Dear friends and doners of the Lirot Association,

Even in this complex and uncertain reality , we wish you and your families a holiday of hope, renewal, and moments of light and quiet.

Especially on days like these, it is important for us to continue to hold on to actions that creates real value - to maintain health, prevent blindness, and maintain functioning and quality of life.

With the resumption of the war and the launch of a ground military operation, voices from the field are rising again and again, asking for the protective glasses we are donating, this is the third round.
The demand that is rising again and again reminds us how real and urgent the need is - and how much your support allows us to continue to provide an accurate, functioning-saving, and sometimes even life-changing response.

An example of the requests that we recieve can be read here:

"We are a group of female fighters, aged 19–21, serving in a special intelligence unit.
We are the first female cohort in the unit, have been serving for over a year and we are proud to pave the way for the next generation of female fighters in the IDF, but we need your help to fulfill our mission in the best possible way.

We need complementary and customized equipment: field equipment and customized protection, and medical and logistical equipment that improves performance.
We would especially appreciate protective goggles.
The army provides the foundation, but your contribution is what will allow us to operate with maximum safety and efficiency over time.
Your partnership strengthens us and reminds us that we are not alone in the battle for home.
We appreciate all assistance and contributions.
With deep appreciation,
The fighters of the unit."

"Hello,
We are a group of parents of soldiers serving in the 101st Paratroopers Battalion.

The team consists of 28 soldiers, who have just completed advanced training and we just learned that they are being sent straight to Lebanon.

We are trying to help as much as we can and this is mainly by bringing more suitable equipment than they have today, so that it can protect them.
I heard about your organization from soldiers in other brigades, who received excellent tactical glasses from you as a donation and in appreciation of your activity.
I wanted to know if you can also help our soldiers?
With best wishes to all the people of Israel and with great appreciation for your work."

The cost of one pair of glasses is $100.
We invite you to take part and join us - every donation helps us continue to provide functionally-saving glasses to fighters.

Together with you, we can continue to provide a solution to fighters in need.
We would be happy for any donation that will help continue the project.
All donations are tax deductible!

Best regards,
Nadine Hollander, CEO of the Lirot Association,
the Board of Directors and the Friends Association.

Community Eye Tests During War

In these days of the ongoing war, we are making supreme efforts to provide eye exams in the community in various places throughout the country, in nursing homes and in home visits, in order to provide a medical response to eye health for those who need it.

The eye exams that are performed solve the "mysteries" of vision disorders or loss.
These "mysteries" arise for one reason only: the person has not been examined for a long time and even years by an ophthalmologist, due to being confined to his home,
or to the setting in which he resides.

The following story - one of many, will testify to what was mentioned above:
A few days ago, in eye exams conducted by the association in one of the nursing homes, a resident of the place was examined, who for a very long time was defined as blind in both eyes, without knowing the reason for this.
When he was examined by the ophthalmologist, the reason for his definition as blind was found: Cataracts in both eyes, which had reached a high degree of progression.
The examining ophthalmologist referred the subject for cataract surgery in both eyes,
as soon as possible.

His examination and referral for cataract surgery changed his definition, from blind - to sighted. The answer to the question, what would have been the fate of this person's future and quality of life, if he had not been examined - is understandable, even without saying.

Greetings and best wishes
