The next academic year will soon begin, and we are making great efforts to prepare for it. This is an excellent opportunity to say a big thank you to Ilana Saller, who was the secretary of the institute for decades. Ilana was a pillar of the FAAB, and we all greatly appreciate her for her contributions over the years. In the same breath, we announce that Yulia Livshitz is our new hire and will slowly step into Ilana's shoes. We wish Yulia much success. In the coming weeks, Sigalit will move her office next to Yulia's to support the overlap process. There are also new beginnings in the academic staff as Maoz Dor has begun his position as a senior lecturer. Maoz is establishing his own laboratory in the field of biogeochemistry. We wish him success, and of course, we will help him establish his research infrastructure. We continue to recruit researchers to the institute and currently have an open tenure-track faculty position in the field of agrobiology. The areas of interest include, but are not limited to, plant physiology, plant molecular and developmental biology, molecular systems biology, plant nutrition and soil fertility, and soil and rhizosphere biology and microbiology. Please help spread the word and persuade suitable candidates to apply for this position. Although the institute's researchers have received significant grants from a variety of competitive and non-competitive funds, we have recently had difficulty winning ISF grants. Because the importance of this fund is enormous for advancing basic research, the institute's management has decided to allocate resources to increasing our researchers’ chances of winning this grant. Any researcher who is interested in early peer review or scientific editing of their ISF submission should contact us as soon as possible. From personal experience, it is not advisable to wait until the last second, but to take advantage of the early review, which will substantially improve the proposal. Best, Naftali
