Call for Proposals: France – Israel Scientific Research Program 2024
Israel and France are supporting collaborative research projects under the "Maimonide-Israel" Program. The focus is on applied research in specific areas, with the potential for technological applicability and product development.
Main Areas of Cooperation:
1. Food safety and nutrition: development of innovative technologies in food production.
2. Management of natural resources and ecosystems, including economic activities like water desalination, energy production, chemical isolation, sea conservation, cleanup, and sea agriculture (fish, seafood, seaweed, algae).
3. Health: Innovative cell therapies, bioactive proteins and nucleic acid based bioactive agents.
4. Engineering and digital: development of new materials for electronic applications.
EU Joint Programme – Neurodegenerative Disease Research (JPND)
Call for Pre-Proposals: "Mechanisms and measurement of disease progression in the early phase"
JPND has initiated a transnational call for proposals focusing on understanding mechanisms and measuring disease progression in the early stages of neurodegenerative diseases.
The aim is to enhance knowledge on biological, psychological, and social factors influencing early disease progression, enabling more accurate identification of pre-symptomatic stages and reliable monitoring of disease progression.
Focus Areas for this Call (Partial List):
1. Alzheimer's disease and other dementias
2. Parkinson's disease and PD – related disorders
3. Prion diseases
4. Motor neuron diseases
5. Huntington's disease
Budget: €140,000 total (via the Ministry of Health).
AACR is a professional organization dedicated to advancing cancer research and fostering collaboration among scientists and clinicians.
The research proposed for funding must focus on cancer etiology, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention and may be basic, translational, or clinical in nature.
Budget: $225,000 total.
Duration: 1 year.
Eligibility: - Hold a tenure-eligible appointment.
Call for Proposals: Computational and Data-Enabled Science and Engineering (CDS&E)
CDS&E seeks breakthroughs in science and engineering through innovative computational and data analysis methods. It backs projects accelerating discovery and advancing knowledge, surpassing individual program goals.
Projects can target single or multiple disciplines across Divisions and Directorates. CDS&E proposals aim to foster the use and development of computational and data science advancements in research and infrastructure.
Budget (for Israeli PI): $80,000 per year for experimental programs. $55,000 per year for theoretical or computer based research.
Call for Proposals: Emerging Frontiers in Research and Innovation (EFRI)
The EFRI program in the Directorate for Engineering directs attention to emerging areas. The BEGIN OI solicitation supports transformative research for advancing organoid system design, aiming for dynamic information processing and interaction with nonliving systems. The program seeks proposals with transformative ideas capable of significantly impacting
fundamental engineering knowledge, addressing national needs, or tackling grand
challenges, with adherence to specified requirements.
Budget (for Israeli PI): $80,000 per year for experimental programs. $55,000 per year for theoretical or computer based research.
Call for Proposals: Quantum Communications and Quantum Computing
Quantum technology is an innovative subject of national importance that needs cooperation between Israel and the United States in order to bridge the existing gap between scientific theory and innovation and industrial application.
To this end, a joint program was established between MOST and BSF, in order to finance projects on specific topics of quantum research.
Budget (for Israeli PI): $80,000 per year for experimental programs. $55,000 per year for theoretical or computer based research.
Call for Applications: German – Israeli Minerva Schools 2025
Minerva Schools aim to unite young Israeli and German scientists, focusing on PhD students and post-doctoral researchers. The program facilitates first contacts, scientific exchange, and interaction with senior scientists.
Eligible applicants include scientists from all German universities and research institutions, along with those from Ben-Gurion University, and others. Preference is given to independent post-docs leading their projects or younger professors in the selection process.
Minerva Schools may be organized in all areas of research.
Call for Pre-Proposals: Industrial Production Processes
The Innovation Authority invites academic researchers to apply for funding in collaboration with Israeli corporations, driving applied research for integration into industrial production processes.
Key Topics for this call:
1. Creating resources and raw materials through industrial waste recovery.
2. Reducing energy consumption in production processes.
3. Development of optimal and/or innovative production processes.
4. Development of substitute materials for raw materials.
Budget: Up to 550,000 NIS per year.
Duration: 2 years.
