MOST is funding research topics for 2024, prioritizing areas crucial for advancing Israel, fostering innovation, and addressing key societal challenges. The focus is on supporting
impactful projects that contribute to the nation's scientific and technological progress.
List of focus areas the call (partial list):
1. Advanced Materials for Various Uses: Materials for the environment in economically feasible processes.
2. Food-Tech: Food security and health.
3. AI Applications: Elucidating AI products and the machine learning decision-making process, AI provides support for engineering development processes, encompassing design and testing phases.
4. Civil Space (Space Agency): Development of instrumentation, components, subsystems and assemblies for spacecraft platforms for dual uses.
5. Unique Groundbreaking Applied Research: MOST seeks to promote ideas with applied aspects that deviate from the accepted scientific approach, and which come from all disciplines.
The Israeli Smart Transportation Research Center (ISTRC)
Call for Proposals: Zero Transportation Externalities
ISTRC is a facility dedicated to researching and developing innovative solutions for intelligent transportation systems. It focuses on advancing technologies to enhance the efficiency and
sustainability of transportation infrastructure.
This call is comprised of three focus areas:
1. Zero Causalities: Developing a safe and resilient transportation system with cutting-edge tech for zero fatalities, considering all road users.
2. Zero Delays: Creating an equitable, efficient transportation system with minimal delays, integrating diverse modes and emphasizing transit-oriented development and environmental sustainability.
3. Zero Environmental Harm: Preventing environmental harm through clean energy adoption, promoting sustainable transport modes and behavior.
The objective of the 'Proof of Concept' Grants is to enable ERC-funded ideas to progress on the path from ground-breaking research towards commercial and social innovation.
Eligibility: Only Principal Investigators in an ongoing main ERC grant or in a main ERC grant that has ended less than 12 months before 1 January 2024 are eligible to apply. The proposals for the Proof pf Concepts grants should draw substantially on their ERC funded research.
Budget: € 150,000 total.
Duration: 18 months.
Note: Grantees of the 'Proof of Concept' Grants will be eligible to submit proposals to the EIC Transition Award.
With the ERC Public Engagement with Research award, the ERC wishes to recognize and reward outstanding science communicators among its Principal Investigators who successfully engage audiences outside their domain with ERC-funded research. Up to six prizes will be awarded in this call.
Note: Public engagement is defined for the purposes of this prize as the involvement of the public in the design, conduct or dissemination of activities funded by the ERC.
Award Amount: € 10,000 total.
Eligibility: All Principal Investigators in an ERC frontier research project, ongoing or ended on or after 31 December 2021, are eligible to apply.
Call for Proposals: Food Security & Alternative Proteins
GFI is a nonprofit promoting alternative proteins through research and innovation in plant-based and cultivated meat. They strive to transform the food system for sustainability and ethical practices.
This call for proposals deals with alternative proteins as a platform to strengthen national food security. The proposal should show how alternative proteins can be used to strengthen national food security.
The three research pillars for this call are:
1. Local manufacturing and local value chain resilience.
2. Import of raw materials and products and immunity from import values.
ICA is a nonprofit organization that offers charitable support to Jewish individuals and communities, addressing social and welfare needs.
The aim of this call is to assist the regional development of the Galilee, the Negev and the Arava and to serve the population in the regional and local councils.
Proposals that meet the following criteria will be preferred (partial list):
1. Wide-ranging impact on geographic area, employment, areas of expertise, etc.
2. A partnership between several researchers from different institutions or disciplines.
3. Impact and possible contribution of the project to the advancement of the periphery.
