Optical shelter for QKD (quantum key distribution) communication
The goal of this request for proposals is to receive initial proposals for miniature receivers capable of receiving QKD signals from an LEO satellite. Unlike demonstrations conducted so far, which used telescopes with tracking systems, the Ministry seeks alternative proposals for miniature receivers that do not require professional or ongoing maintenance. Proposals should focus on the physical/engineering principles that allow the miniaturization of the receiver while maintaining a high signal-to-noise ratio (SNR).
Biodiversity and Transformative Change: BiodivTransform
Transnational Joint Research Call
The Ministry of Environmental Protection is announcing a call under the European partnership for biodiversity, Biodiversa+, in which Israel is a member as part of the Horizon Europe program.
The call seeks to fund research that addresses the urgent global crises of biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution by exploring their interconnections. The focus will be on interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and cross-sectoral projects that can provide actionable knowledge to halt and reverse biodiversity decline, supporting transformative change across various ecosystems and environments worldwide. The call will accept proposals concerning all realms—terrestrial, marine, coastal, freshwater—and is not restricted by geographic areas.
Budget: €100,000 total for the Israeli researcher
Duration: 36 months
Eligibility: Research consortia must include teams from a minimum of 3 countries financially participating in the Call, including at least 2 from EU Member States or EU Associated Countries
The intersection of machine learning (ML) and compiler design is transforming both fields. In compiler design, ML is automating tasks such as code/kernel optimization, performance prediction, code generation, and flag optimization, leading to more efficient software and improved developer productivity. Simultaneously, the growing complexity of AI models and datacenter workloads, alongside diverse hardware platforms, demands specialized compilers for optimal performance.
Key focus areas for research and development include:
This call is for research and innovation projects that will improve water security in the long term. Results should contribute to the implementation of evidence-based, global, EU and national water management policies and strategies, within the frameworks of the Green Deal, Water Framework Directive, Just Transition and the Water Action Agenda for UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Research topics:
Enhancement of water circularity in industries
Urban water circularity
Resource recovery
Economic, environmental and social implications of water reuse and recovered products
Budget: Israel project budget is not specified
Duration: 3 years
Eligibility: 3-7 partners from participating countries necessary
Research in the Field of Disabilities: Intellectual, Developmental, Sensory, Physical, and Cognitive Impairment
Funding research that is first and foremost applicable as well as innovative and creative. Research would focus on various areas that improve the quality of life of people with disabilities and their surroundings. Proposals can be from of variety of disciplines.
Proposals that follow the following criteria will be given priority:
Collaboration between academic institutions in and out of Israel
Interdisciplinary research
Professional and up-to-date concepts
Innovation
Connections between theory and field
Studies that offer a model for an intervention program and/or pilot for their implementation
Budget and Duration: No fixed budget and duration stated. Each researcher is required to submit a proposal that includes a well-thought-out and justified research plan and budget, and each proposal is discussed on its own merits.
Assessing children's motor skills is critical for early detection of developmental issues influencing cognitive and social growth. Proficient motor skills contribute to academic success, good self-esteem, and overall physical well-being, impacting daily activities and adaptive functioning. Identifying disruptions in neurodevelopment affecting motor skills is essential, guiding targeted interventions for comprehensive child development.
Do you have a colleague at MIT? Through an annual call for proposals, the fund primarily supports travel costs for visits and exchanges. This fund is open to MIT faculty from all disciplines to collaborate with Israeli faculty. The Israeli colleague(s) must be identified and at least one MIT PhD student must be included in the proposal.
Priority will be given to projects that: · propose a balanced exchange between MIT and Israeli participants · demonstrate complementarity between MIT and Israeli participants · include MIT PhD students
Budget: $30,000
Note: This is an internal MIT call with application made by an MIT faculty member who will administer he funds.
Dr. Heni Haring - Assistant Director of the United States-Israel Binational Science Foundation (BSF) will make a special presentation focusing on the proposal submission procedure, and especially the scientific committees are handled and work. In addition, there is a possibility for one-on-one meetings for researchers who wish to submit a proposal in the upcoming cycle and who have a special or particular matter to discuss.
Wednesday, October 9, 2024 13:00 - 15:00 (Zoom) The RDA will be holding a workshop for researchers interested in submitting an individual ISF proposal this year.
The meeting will be held in two parts: first, the ISF budget officers will present information on budget planning for the individual track. In the second part, they will talk about budget planning for the new researcher equipment track.
The Israel Science Foundation (ISF) invites researchers to attend meetings about the review process at the foundation. The meetings will not cover the submission rules for the foundation, which are detailed and published in the guidelines on the website.
Meeting Schedule (Click on link for regisration) Social Sciences: 19.9.24 at 11:00 on Zoom Humanities: 8.10.24 at 10:00 on Zoom *
* Please note: On October 8, the RDA will be hosting a dedicated day for writing ISF proposals. You can participate in the ISF review process meeting via Zoom while also attending the dedicated writing day.
