Dear Researchers,

This issue of our newsletter includes important information about the deadlines, events and guidelines for the upcoming submission cycle to the ISF. Please read the information carefully.

  • Starting from this cycle, only one research proposal may be submitted to one of the foundation's research grant programs. For information regarding concurrent submission with an active grant, please refer to the eligibility table.

  • Parallel submissions will only be allowed if one of the submissions is a request for equipment funding (new faculty / mid-career equipment).

  • Please note, there is a deadline for registration, a deadline for submitting the proposal to the RDA, and a deadline for submitting fully approved applications to the foundation through the RDA. See below for the deadline information.

Invitation to Meetings on the ISF Review Process

Researchers are invited to attend meetings led by a scientific director from the foundation, where the review process for the personal research grant track will be explained. Please note that the meetings will not cover the submission rules for the foundation, which are detailed and published in the guidelines on the website.

Dedicated day for writing ISF proposals

Prof. Raz Jelinek, Vice-President & Dean for Research & Development is calling on all researchers who plan to submit a proposal in the upcoming ISF cycle to gear up and write! 

When: Tuesday, October 8, 2024 from 9:00 - 16:00

Where: The 2nd floor of the Student House building:
  • Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences: Eshel Hall
  • All other faculties: Rotem Hall

What: Sit and write your ISF proposal! The RDA scientific editors – Dr. Ram Gal and Patrick Martin will be avaiable for assistance, and the RDA ISF Coordinator and the budgeting officers will be available for questions regarding submission and budgeting. Since the academic year has not yet begun, this is a unique opportunity to sit in a comfortable and supportive environment and write.

Coffee and lunch are on us! Participation in the event is free of charge, and registration is open until September 14th, 2024 at 12:00. 


 

How to Build and Maximize your ISF Budget

Wednesday, October 9, 2024

 The RDA will be holding a workshop for researchers interested in submitting an individual ISF proposal this year. 
The meeting will be held in two parts: first, the ISF budget officers will present information on budget planning for the individual track. In the second part, they will talk about budget planning for the new researcher equipment track


 

Deadlines and Guidelines
 

 

All submissions will be made via your personal account on the ISF website. 

There are two distinct deadlines to the ISF: Registration deadline and submission deadline.  Registration and application deadlines are set to 13:00 (Jerusalem time).

  1. Registration: required in order to submit a proposal. Late registration will not be accepted - do not wait!
  2. Submission: completion of the entire application process, including approval of the RDA. Applications that have not been approved by the RDA will not be accepted. 


The following list specifies the deadlines for each program. Click the name of the program to view the call guidelines:
  • Registration on the ISF website: October 14, 2024 by 13:00 
  • RDA Submission Deadline: November 5, 2024
  • Full Submission to the Foundation:
    • Full proposal submission via DFG website: October 30, 2024 
    • Administrative submission on the ISF website: November 12, 2024 by 13:00

Individual Research GrantSwitzerland CooperationMavri ProgramsChina Cooperation:
•   Registration on the ISF website: November 5, 2024 by 13:00 
  • RDA Submission Deadline:  November 12, 2024
  • Full Submission to the Foundation: November 19, 2024 by 13:00 

Research Workshops, Equipment Grants (for New Faculty and Mid-Career Faculty):
  • Registration on the Foundation's Website: November 26, 2024 by 13:00 
  • RDA Submission Deadline: December 3, 2024
  • Full Submission to the Foundation: December 10, 2024 by 13:00 

  • Mid-Career Faculty Equipment Grants: BGU is limited to a maximum of 10 applications. Interested parties should contact Orly Kayam, ISF Desk Officer, by October 31. An internal committee led by the Vice President for R&D will select the applications for submission to the ISF. Up to NIS 910,000 available, contingent on the host institution matching 25% of the ISF award. For an ISF award of NIS 910,000, BGU must match NIS 227,000.  Matching funds will be allocated between the researcher and the university based on submissions and budget availability.


Deadlines for MAPATZ, Or, Bereshit, Quantum Science and Technology Research Program (if opened), and Canada Collaboration Program (if opened), will be announced at a later date and will be updated on the ISF website.
