Please note: The outcomes of research grant applications to the ISF will be announced in the second half of August.
New Calls for Proposal
The Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative (SFARI)
Linking Early Neurodevelopment to Neural Circuit Outcomes
The goal of this call is to enhance the knowledge of the connection between autism risk gene mutations and their effects on neural circuit development and functionality. It encourages collaborative research between experts in developmental neurobiology and circuit neuroscience to establish clear causal relationships between various phenotypes in selected models.
The Department of Science and Technology in MAFAT, Ministry of Defense, announces a call for research proposals in the fields of biology and veterinary science, with security/military aspects.
Proposals are sought to address one or more of the following topics:
Alzheimer's Disease/Alzheimer's Disease-Related Dementias and Age-Related Cognitive Decline
Researchers are invited to submit proposals that develop and implement early- to late-stage clinical trials of promising pharmacological and non-pharmacological interventions to prevent and/or treat the cognitive, behavioral, and neuropsychiatric changes associated with age-related cognitive decline and Alzheimer's disease (AD) and Alzheimer's disease-related dementias (ADRD), and stimulate studies to enhance trial design and methods.
Velux Stiftung funds research on daylight's effects and uses across three areas: human health, natural processes, and technology. The foundation highlights daylight's role in regulating biological clocks and ecosystem behaviors, and its use in innovative energy technologies like sub-dermal photovoltaic batteries. It supports interdisciplinary projects that explore these impacts but does not fund research focused solely on artificial light unless closely linked to natural daylight.
Velux Stiftung promotes a bio-psycho-social approach to research, focusing on enhancing the functional abilities and intrinsic capacities of the elderly. The foundation supports research aimed at helping older individuals maintain their quality of life and continue engaging in valued activities, adapting to the physiological, social, and behavioral changes that come with aging.
This call is for research and innovation projects that will improve water security in the long term. Results should contribute to the implementation of evidence-based, global, EU and national water management policies and strategies, within the frameworks of the Green Deal, Water Framework Directive, Just Transition and the Water Action Agenda for UN Sustainable Development Goals.
Research topics:
Enhancement of water circularity in industries
Urban water circularity
Resource recovery
Economic, environmental and social implications of water reuse and recovered products
Budget: Israel project budget is TBA
Duration: 3 years
Eligibility: 3-6 partners from participating countries necessary.
Biodiversity and Transformative Change: BiodivTransform
Transnational Joint Research Call
The Ministry of Environmental Protection is announcing a call that will be published under the European partnership for biodiversity, Biodiversa+, in which Israel is a member as part of the Horizon Europe program.
The call seeks to fund research that addresses the urgent global crises of biodiversity loss, climate change, and pollution by exploring their interconnections. The focus will be on interdisciplinary, transdisciplinary, and cross-sectoral projects that can provide actionable knowledge to halt and reverse biodiversity decline, supporting transformative change across various ecosystems and environments worldwide. The call will accept proposals concerning all realms—terrestrial, marine, coastal, freshwater—and is not restricted by geographic areas.
Budget: Israel project budget is TBA
Duration: TBA
Eligibility: Research consortia must include teams from a minimum of 3 countries financially participating in the Call, including at least 2 from EU Member States or EU Associated Countries.
The Ben-Gurion University Center for Health Economics Research (BGU-CHER)
Call for Multidisciplinary Research Projects
The Ben-Gurion University Center for Health Economics Research aims to promote innovative interdisciplinary research in healthcare and economics that will be implemented and disseminated to the Israeli research and policy communities.
The center organized a launch event on June 3, 2024. The conference featured collaborative research working groups with representatives of health organizations and started several cross-disciplinary collaborations.
Following the conference, BGU-CHER is launching a call for one-year seed funding for all relevant BGU faculty (PIs). Proposals should align with the BGU-CHER aim, with a preference given to research teams that participated in the conference. This call aims to encourage fresh cross-disciplinary research from new collaborative teams and enhance their potential for external competitive grants. Suggested topics can include (but are not limited to): the demand for and supply of health care, equality and fairness in healthcare finance and delivery, health and environmental economics, and predictive models in health.
Budget: 12,500 NIS for 1 year (per team). The PI must be a BGU faculty member.
