Google, through its GARA program, supports impactful research based on advances in technology and computing. GARA welcomes proposals from academic researchers on a worldwide basis whose research aligns with Google's own interests, commitment to innovation, and desire to have significant impact in their chosen fields. Awardees are paried with a Google research sponsor who provides support and acts as a liaison to Google's broader research community.
Current focal areas (details are listed on individual webpages for each focal area):
Machine Learning for Climate Action ($300K)
Equitable, Accessible, and Effective Education w/ AI ($100K)
The Ministry of Environmental Protection will be publishing a call on the topic of biodiversity and transformative change, under the European partnership Biodiversa+, focused on identifying, analyzing, and understanding the processes required to halt and reverse the trend of biodiversity loss and to conserve the ecological systems and the potential benefits they provide to humans.
We encourage researchers to review the call now and to establish international partnerships for submission according to the guidelines on the website.
The proposals will be submitted to the partnership site and also to the Ministry of Environmental Protection, according to guidelines that will be published in September 2024.
The track encourages applied research with innovative technological feasibility originating in academia. The main goal is to bring the project to a stage where an Israeli commercial industrial company will adopt it with the aim of developing a product.
Priority fields by Israeli innovation authority:
Carbon capture and storage
Protein structure prediction
Semiconductor-2D
Bioelectricity
4D Printing
Organ-on-a-Chip
Single Cell analysis

ISERD and the European Research Council (ERC)
ERC Synergy Information Session
Wednesday, July 3 | 10:00
Are you a researcher who wants to address a research problem so ambitious, that it can not be dealt with you and your team alone? The Synergy Grants could be for you!
The European Research Council (ERC), set up by the European Union in 2007, funds outstanding researchers to conduct groundbreaking research. The ERC Synergy grant is awarded with the aim of bringing groups of researchers to work together, thus combining complementary skills and resources to tackle particularly challenging research problems and accomplish groundbreaking discoveries.
ISERD will hold the ERC Synergy info session hosting Dr. Ágnes Kulcsar, ERC Call coordinator.
The session will include introduction to the ERC-SyG 2025 call + Q&As.
