Maccabiah

Maccabi World Union’s flagship event, the Maccabiah, is the world’s largest celebration of Jewish unity and the centrality of Israel in Jewish life. Dubbed the “Jewish Olympics,” the Maccabiah is the second largest sporting event in the world. Every four years, 10,000 athletes come together to Israel to meet and compete, and tens of thousands of spectators come to support them. The Maccabiah is the only event that brings thousands of Jewish people together for an unforgettable experience

Regional Games

Maccabi World Union provides opportunities for Jews everywhere to engage in sport at every age and at all levels, in a welcoming and inclusive environment.

Our calendar comprises a 4-year cycle, with a large international event each year: the Maccabiah, the Maccabi Global Youth Games, the European Maccabi Games the Pan American Maccabi Games and the Winter Games. Over 100,000 participants take part in these games. 

In addition, every summer we join forces with the JCC Association in North America to run the JCC Maccabi Games in the United States & Canada.

YACHAD | Maccabi Israel Programs

Maccabi World Union brings over 1,500 participants to Israel every year on an array of short- and long-term educational and experiential programs. Our extensive experience and capacity allow us to provide on the ground services and content to other Israel-oriented partner organizations, including the JCC Association and BBYO.

The World Jewish Sports Museum

The Iris Smith World Jewish Sports Museum opened in 2022 and is located in the Asper Maccabi House in MWU’s global headquarters at Kfar Maccabiah. It is the world’s largest and most comprehensive museum documenting and celebrating the role sports has played in the Jewish people’s renewal over the last 125 years.

Calendar

Every year - on a four-year cycle - Maccabi World Union organizes an international sporting competition. The year after the Maccabiah Games we put on the Maccabi Pan American Maccabi Games, followed by the European Maccabi Games. In addition, each summer Maccabi join forces with the JCC Association to run the JCC Maccabi Games in North America.

We invite you to try out for the games and to come and cheer on family and friends.
