NEW- ISF - MidCareer Equipment Grant INTERNAL APPLICATION CLARIFICATION
The Israel Science Foundation (ISF) has a new program that offers mid-career university faculty members (Associate Professors or Full Professors only) funds to purchase scientific equipment. A mid-career faculty member will be defined as someone who first joined the academic system in Israel, as a full-time faculty member, over the past 10-22 years. Eligibility is calculated from the date when the researcher officially entered academia (not necessarily the date the researcher joined the BGU faculty) and until the date of the deadline to submit this grant (December 2019, not the date on which the grant will be activated).
Amount of funding: ISF funding will be up to 910,000 NIS (i.e., up to 75% of the total cost) and contingent on a commitment from the host institution to match at least 25% of the ISF contribution. Number of grants available to each institution: up to 4 grants.
Note: The equipment cannot have already been ordered/purchased.
Mid Career Equipment Grant - Details

The applications for this program are handled by an internal committee chaired by Prof. Raz Jelinek.
Selection criteria for BGU submissions will include whether the equipment will be used by several researchers, and whether a financial contribution will be made by the submitting researcher/s.

Unfamiliar Multirotor Drones - Capabilities Detection
The Israel Ministry of Defense (MAFAT) has published a call for proposals for the capabilities detection of unknown new types of multirotor drones.
The area of drones' defence is in a continuous race with the drones' capabilities and with the expanding technologies. These abilities, although generally civilian, are a potential security threat to the S tate of Israel.
The purpose of this call is to promote the technological challenge and the innovative solution that will provide an adequate answer to the threat of the multirotor drones.

Grand Challenges Explorations
Innovations for Improving the Impact of Health Campaigns (Round 24)
The Global Grand Challenges has issued a call for innovative solutions that accelerate the improvement of coverage, reach, efficiency, and effectiveness of health campaigns. Specifically, this call is for innovations in approaches, practices, or tools that dramatically improve the planning and microplanning, implementation/operations, monitoring, and evaluation that will lead to improved effectiveness of campaigns. Two-Phase Grant Mechanism: Phase 1 - 2-page proposal for an award of up to US $100,000. Phase 2 – Phase 1 awardees can then apply for additional funding of up to US $1,000,000.

Research Cooperation
Funding is provided for scientifically outstanding projects conducted jointly by researchers from Israel and Lower Saxony. The cooperation has to be justified coherently and explained in its design.
The funding program addresses different disciplines in different years: 2019: Natural Sciences, Mathematics, Engineering Sciences 2020: Humanities and Social Sciences

International Brokerage Event
Europe in a Changing World: Inclusive, Innovative and Reflective Societies 2020 Calls
This international information-day event will highlight research topics covered within the final 2020 calls for proposals in Societal Challenge 6, Europe in a changing world – inclusive, innovative and reflective Societies of Horizon 2020. Participants will have the possibility to join in a matchmaking event dedicated to the topics of the 2020 Societal Challenge 6 calls for proposals.
The matchmaking event will give participants the opportunity to join pre-arranged meetings with other participants in order to identify possible collaborators and to facilitate the setup of Horizon 2020 project consortia.
Researchers, entrepreneurs and other stakeholders actively looking for project partners, can present their project during a flash presentation session.
The matchmaking session will be preceded by an information session, which will focus on the policy context, funding opportunities and the open call for proposals. This info session will bring valuable insights for your proposal preparation, adding important background information to compliment the bilateral meetings to be held in the afternoon part of the event.
